Running for council is intense and time consuming. Our group (Group F), will post some regular updates about our activities over the period up until the voting day on 14th September.
It has been a challenging process with the council elections. Firstly, there is just completing the paperwork, for which you need a degree in advanced bureaucracy. Those in the senior ranks of the Liberal Party failed the process and now there are intense repercussions.
There seem to be many job opportunities in NSW Liberal Party HQ. Given the challenges there, if you are interested in a job it may be best to put a letter in the post rather than sending something electronic.
Our group was successful in registering a group of 6 so that it is possible to vote “above the line” ie you don;t have to number many individual squares. We believe that groups A,B and D support our intention for more transparency and accountability for council and so consider support for them.
Our group had a strategy meeting in Cooma on Monday 19th August, which was very productive. We decided on the simple slogan: Back to Basics: Rates, Roads and Rubbish. The idea is to focus council on its core business. We also see the need to increase transparency of decision making. Ultimately, we believe that a devolved council will be more responsive to various needs of quite different communities. Bombala is totally different to Jindabyne, for example.
Nicole Vlug kindly shot a series of photographs at part of the train track on the road to Numeralla. Here is the photogenic group!

Interview with the “Berridale Joe Rogan”
Today (21 August 2024), Chris Chan and Reuben Rose were interviewed by someone whom Chris has dubbed “the Joe Rogan of Berridale”. Mark Davis has a podcast where he raises issues around the region and he’s titled the Chitty Chat Poddy Pod which he describes as: “A variety of light hearted discussions ranging from local, national, and global topics.” We had an extensive discussion with Mark about what we saw were some of the problems with the way council was currently functioning and our areas for focus if one or more of our team are elected.

The podcast should be available in the next few days and we will post it on our substack account.
We also are trying to spread our core message via our soon to be established website: www.snowyontrack.au and we have an email for the group info@snowyontrack.au
I will be voting Group F - number 1.
Great jobs everyone.
A step forward is a promising step...
