Jindabyne Councillors Voice Concerns Regarding Michelago Quarry #201.4
At the July Snowy Monaro Regional Council meeting, frustration was clearly evident as Jindabyne-based Councillors Elliot and Rose called out repeated delays in resolving the Michelago Quarry issue—an environmental and planning controversy that has dragged on for years.
Cr Elliot didn’t mince words:
"We’re dragging the chain… this is the third meeting we’ve had about Michelago Quarry. A family has been impacted, and they’ve already waited three years just to be heard."
Cr Rose raised concerns about governance and transparency, asking why councillors are being asked to oversee a process they don’t have full information on—particularly when it comes to the legal advice being sought from Lindsay Taylor Lawyers and the questionable approval process of the original DA.
While the council waits for legal and EPA investigations, nearby residents continue to live with the consequences.
Watch how your local councillors are pushing for answers and accountability - and which ones aren't.

So councillors with the usual scant information supplied by council staff, are expected to make informed decisions?
Yeh, we definitely about transparency & accountability.
Just ask Narelle.
It’s true !
Hahaha 🤣
Lindsay Taylor Lawyers - didn’t we hear about them recently ?
Are they the ones that gave council staff verbal legal advice about another DA ?
Thats a worry.
Think they lost that one.
Just asking.
And the local residents are left living with the consequences.
There’s an old saying :
If a businessman (or mere mortal) makes a mistake they suffer the consequences. If a bureaucrat makes a mistake you suffer the consequences.
Since this new council took seat, we seem to be seeing more & more of the above.
Just saying.
Which councillors are pushing for answers and accountability - and which ones aren't ?
Not looking at the One Finger Wonder in particular of course.
The good thing is Cameras don’t lie in the public gallery.
Keep up the great work Chris.
